I'm glad to report the publication of the interesting work "Human Dimension of Wildlife n Europe: the Italian way", written by Jenny A. Glikman and Beatrice Frank from Geography Departement at Memorial University, St. Jhon's, Newfoundland, Canada.
The article provides a European overview of HDW using Italy as a case of study. The article's conclusions are that although HDW is growing, the discipline still strives to be recognized academically and as a decison-making tool. We are sure you will find it interesting and useful.

The Human Dimensions, stakeholder analysis and the participatory approach are becoming a real fashion now. But do they really work? Does anybody have concrete examples? Positive or negative ones?

Welcome to the forum of the LIFE EX-TRA Project. Have you had a look at our website? Do you know something about the project? Do you want to know something more? Some specific info? Do you have any comments, about the project, it's activities, the website etc.? Of course it can also be criticism...

Use of poisoned baits is a serious threat to many wildlife species, including large carnivores.
Although there is no relevant action included in the LIFE EX-TRA project, as far as I know the PNGSML is cuurently running another LIFE project (LIFE ANTIDOTO: www.lifeantidoto.it) focused especially on this threat. Moreover, a new LIFE project has been announced recently (LIFE09 NAT/ES/533), dealing with same problem in Spain, Portugal and Greece.
Please let me know if you find useful/possible future cooperation on this issue, between the countries/beneficiaries participating in the LIFE EX-TRA project.
